To be blunt, if you’re not hearing “no” while running your business, then you’re not putting yourself out there (or not often enough). Plain and simple.
If you’re hearing “no” and feeling down about it, you’re also in the right place, and you’re in good company. Even the most experienced experts hear no sometimes, so no one is exempt from hearing that dreaded two-letter word, at least on occasion.
We all hear “no” sometimes, and the truth is that we NEED to hear “no” and we SHOULD hear “no” so that we re-condition ourselves. The old mindset is that hearing “no” is bad because we’re being rejected, and being rejected means we’ve failed or that somehow it makes us not enough. This is simply not true, and a dangerous mindset to adopt!
We instead should be hearing “no” often enough so that it retrains our brain to hear what “no” really means — not right now, not this opportunity, you are meant for something else in this season. I repeat, it does not mean you’re not enough or that you’re not good at what you do! A higher power is guiding your time and energy towards something else.
No is a blessing, my friend. Does it sting at first? Sure, because you’re human and you have a heart to serve others. But is it the end of life to hear “no?” Does it need to disrupt your entire day, your upbeat mood, or your gratitude for what you already have? NO. Do not let it steal your joy and passion for what you do. It’s simply part of the process, and frees you up for a different “yes” instead. Celebrate “no!”
